THIS HEAVYWEIGHT MATERIAL IS MADE USING NATURAL MEDITERRANEAN SEAWEED FIBERS. THE SEAWEED IS DRIED IN THE SUN AND FIXED BY BEING COMPRESSED TOGETHER WITH A SOLVENT FREE POLYURETHANE COATING.

Rick Owens' footwear is built more like a traditional leather shoe with a stitch-down sole as opposed to a disposable pair of sneakers. Over time if the sole or upper needs repair they can be repaired by a cobbler.
