This 8oz indigo stripe fabric is woven on a shuttle loom, inspired by vintage narrow-width textiles originally used for traditional Japanese clothing. At first glance, it appears to be a simple indigo-and-natural stripe fabric, but upon closer inspection, small white areas can be seen within the indigo base. These subtle white sections are created using kasuri yarns, which are carefully resist-dyed to produce a two-tone effect within a single thread. Achieving such fine, short-pitch kasuri dyeing—measured in just a few centimeters—is extremely challenging with modern techniques. After consulting multiple dyeing factories, Sugar Cane successfully reproduced this short-pitch kasuri yarn using a specialized dyeing method.
